After speaking with my father, I am submitting changes to the story of my grandfather\\\\\\\'s migrations to correct dates and places.
Reginald Victor Beaufore, son of Henry Beaufore, was born in Alpena County, Michigan on October 11, 1896. He was raised in a log cabin built by his father on a 40-acre homestead in Montmorency County, Michigan. He served stateside in the Army during WWI at Fort Custer in Calhoun County, Michigan. After the war, he went with a friend to Fort Vermillion in the Northwest Territories of Canada to work as a trapper for the Hudson Bay Company. After two very harsh winters and figuring out that the Hudson Bay Company wanted to make him an indentured servant by allowing him to trade his furs only for supplies and not for cash, he fled southward back to the United States and worked his way back to Michigan, finding employment on ranches out west. Once back in Michigan, he got a factory job in Flint, Genesee Count, Michigan. There he met his wife-to-be, Velma Georgia Stichler, who was living with her aunt and attending Baker Business College. The two were married in December of 1928. When the stock market fell in 1929, Reginald lost his job in the factory. He and his wife went to live on her grandfather\\\\\\\'s farm in Victor Township of Clinton County, Michigan. Reginald worked on his wife\\\\\\\'s grandfather\\\\\\\'s farm until the economy strengthened and he got a factory job in Lansing, Michigan. He worked as a skilled tradesman at Motor Wheel and farmed part-time for about 30 years. He taught his sons how to hunt and trap. What was once a livelihood became a hobby. Reginald died in 1975. He is buried at the Reed Cemetery in Victor Township, Clinton County, Michigan.
