| Daniel Cummins is listed in the Chatham Co. N.C. 1810 census as age 45 years and upward. His wife Dolly Copeland (age 16 to 26) and 3 males under 10 (Richard age 10, William age 7 and John age 3) 1 female 45 and upward. Nov 10,1813 Daniel bought 75 1/2 acres from Edmund Branch. Cedar Creek, McQueens Road.Chatham Co. NC for 45 pounds. In 1815 Daniel bought 40 acres near McQueens Road Chatham Co. NC from Charity Carlile for $100.00 In 1817 Daniel sold to Aaron Boss and Lewis Petty 3 1/2 acres for 6 pounds, 3 shillings and 9 pence. Daniel died in 1819 in Chatham Co. NC withour a will. His probate papers and inventories of his estate are in the Family History Archives in Raleigh NC. 1820 census of Chatham Co. NC pg 239. List Dolly Cummins as head of the family. 2 males 10-16 (John age 13) 1 male age age 16-18 (William age 17). 4 females under 10 (Esther age 3, Martha age 5, Nancy age 6, Betsy age 10) 1 female age 10-16 (Sally) 1 female 26-45 this is probably Dolly and 1 female 45 and over. This may be the same person who is listed in the 1810 census as 45 and upward. Who was she? 1830 census Chatham Co. NC Pittsboro. call no M19 pg 396 Dolly is listed as head of the family. No males. 2 females 10-15 (Esther age 13, Martha age 15) 1 female 15-20 (Nancy age 16) 1 female 20-30 (Betsy age 20) In 1829 Chatham Co. NC Willis Eastis & William Cummins appoint Dolly attorney for them. 23 Sept 1833 Chatham Co. NC Dolly sold 110 acres for $55.00 pg 132 August Term 1834 14 Oct 1833 Chatham Co. N.C. Dolly sold 40 acres for $25.00 pg 132 August Term 1834 14 Oct 1833 Chatham Co. NC Dolly sold 74 1/2 acres for $30.00 pg 131 August Term 1834 1832/33 Richard returned to Chatham Co.NC from Henry Co. Indiana and took his Mother Dolly and 3 sisters, Sarah, Nancy and Esther back to Henry Co. Indiana. Richard married Delilah Morgan in 1828 and moved to Henry Co. Indiana shortly thereafter. John married Mary Morgan in 1827 in Chatham Co. NC they had 1 child a son, Sidney b. 1828 in Chatham Co. NC a second child, a daughter Cenia was born in Henry Co. Ind. in 1830. Mary died shortly thereafter. John remarried in Henry Co. Indiana to Eliza Kibler 12 May 1833. Martha b 1815 Chatham Co. NC married William Billy Moore on 25 Sept 1833 in Chatham Co. NC. Sarah ^Sally^ married John Elliott 1 Jan 1833 in Henry Co. Indiana Elizabeth ^Betsy^ b. 1810 Chatham Co. NC marrid Denson Fooshee (probably in Chatham Co. NC) Nancy b. 12 Oct 1814 Chatham Co. NC married Ephriam Davis 15 Mar 1838 in Henry Co. Ind. Esther b.9 Oct 1817 Chatham Co. NC d. 24 Apr 1904 Henry Co. Ind. married Hezakiah Davis 10 Feb 1837 in Henry Co. Ind. John & Eliza moved on to Jasper Co. Illinois in 1840. |
