Christian Klossner, moved with his wife Susanna Catherine (Knutti), a son David (1831-1919), and daughters Susanna Catherine (1833-1908), Catherine Mattie (1839-1893 ), Elisa (1841-1929 ), and Anna (1848-1925 ), on the ship St. Nicholas from La Harve, France to Castle Garden, NY. There, they stayed until a sick friend got better, then headed over land to Buffalo, NY, then by boat to Detroit, MI, then by land to Grand Haven, MI, then by boat to Miluakee, WI, then by wagon to Monroe, Green County, WI, where they lived for about 6 years on a farm near where two of his sons had moved 2 years earlier. After some of his family moved to MN, he sold the farm and followed them to what is now the town of Bern, MN. There, he and his family changed the spelling of their last name from Klossner to Closner (though his headstone reads Klosner). He was a brewer, and later the town Postmaster. He was buried in a cemetery near Pine Island, Goodhue County, MN.
