David Harris Stiteler (1829-1884) son of Johnathan and Mary Templeton Stiteler, was born in Huntingdon County, Pa. which later became Blair County, Pa. He married Hadassah McSparren in 1851 in Pa., and was the father of Margaret Stiteler ( 1851-66), Susan Stiteler Bubb (1853-??), William W. Stiteler (1856-1930), George W. Stiteler ( 1860-97), Addie Stiteler (1862-84), Jennie Stiteler Bass, Priscilla Stiteler Brown (1864-??), Mattie Stiteler McDonald (1871-??). David and Hadassah are buried in Farlington Cemetery, Crawford County, Ks. He was in Co.C of the 77th Pa. Infantry during the Civil War. He was wounded, captured and lost his left arm at the battle of Stony River, Murfreeboro, Tn. He was sent to Libby Prison in Richmond, Va. and released as an exchange prisioner. He was discharged April 13, 1863 because of his disability. David and his immediate family came to Kansas abt. 1866. Daughter Margaret died in a prairie fire Oct. 13,1866 and is buried in McGonigal Cemetery in Bourbon County, Ks. The home place in Farlington, Ks. is still in the family. to Bourbon County, KS in abt 1866
