Daniel Payne of Maury Co., TN married August 8, 1841 in Lawrence Co., TN to Nancy Catherine Hunt. They then left Tennessee with his brothers Robert Payne and Isaac Payne and widowed mother, Elizabeth Allen Payne. They passed through Arkansas where Daniel and Nancy\'s eldest child, Melvin Micajah Payne was born in 1843 and settled in Ripley Co., MO where they all appear on the 1850 census. The widow Elizabeth remarried here to Timothy Hughes in 1850. Other sons of Micajah and Elizabeth - George W. and Thomas Payne followed at a later date and also settled in Ripley Co., MO.		to AR in 1842 to Ripley County, MO in 1844
