Richard Thomas Dudley Smalley (1836) the 9th child of parents Jacob and Hannah Boles Smalley, married Tabitha Robinson 25 March 1857, traveled by covered wagon to Missouri with their first child Sarah Elizabeth (1858)and then on to Jefferson County, KS 1869. They bought a farm N of Perry, KS and built a five room house; the farm is now covered by Perry Lake. Dudley and Tabitha raised 9 children together, and died in 1903 and 1914, respectively. Dudley's parents, Jacob and Hannah also relocated to Kansas in their last years, living with Dudley and Tabitha until their deaths (1889 & 1874). Sarah married James Henry Dunnigan, 15 March 1882 by the minister Charles E Hedgpeth, of the Methodist Episcopal Church, at the home of Dudley and Tabitha Smalley. James and Sarah had five children, Ellen, Ida Mae, William Grover, John Dudley, and Henry. They also had a grocery in North Topeka for many years, contributing to the community in many positive ways. James and Sarah Dunnigan died in January and May of 1938, following nearly 56 years of married life. to MO in 1860-1861
