This appears to have been the first of at least 3 trips that George Schuhmann made from Germany to America through the port of New York. He appears to have arrived again on 21 December 1859 on board the ship Admiral also bound from Le Havre to New York and again on 19 Oct 1887 on board the ship Rhynland bound from Antwerp to New York. He died on 23 Jan 1910 in Louisville, Jefferson Co., KY. He was buried in St. Louis Cem., Louisville, Jefferson Co., KY.
