George A. Reising, 80, Kansas City, KS, died Monday, August 30, 1999, at his daughter's home in Edwardsville, KS. The Funeral Liturg will be 10 a.m. Thursday, September 2, at St. Mary-St. Anthony Catholic Church; burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, at the church, where the rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. The family suggests memorial contributions to the National Kidney Foundation of Kansas & Western Missouri, 1900 W. 47th Pl., Suite 107, Westwood, KS, 66205, or Kansas City Hospice, 12006 W. 87th Parkway, Lenexa, KS, 66215.
George was born December 19, 1918, in Kansas City, KS, and was a lifetime area resident. He had been a funeral director and embalmber for 60 years and the owner of Reising Funeral Home from 1964-1994.
He was a 1936 graduate of Bishop Ward High School, had attended Rockhurst College, and was a graduate of the Williams Institute of Embalming. He was a lifetime member of St. Mary-St. Anthony Catholic Church, was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus Lafayette Council, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Kansas Funeral Directors Association, and a past president of the Kansas City Funeral Directors Association. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rowena M. Reising in 1986; and a brother, Frank H. Reising. Survivors include two sons, George A. Reising II, Roeland Park, KS, Frank A. Reising, Kansas City, KS; five daughters, Angela Bolt, Edwardsville, KS, Janet Springer, Kansas City, KS, Teresa Sappenfield, Edwardsville, KS, Rosalie Stimac, Herington, KS, Suzanne Engle, Kansas City, MO; two sisters, Mary Draves, and Helen Grinzinger, both of Kansas City, KS; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great- grandchildren.
