The Corydon Democrat November 13, 190? ( pg. 2, col. 1 ) Mrs. Mary Reising, a most highly respected woman and wife of Nicholas R. Reising, died at her home, five miles north of Corydon, on the morning of October 30th. The deceased had been ill for some time with cancer of the throat and her death was not unexpected by those who were with her during her last illness. The funeral was held on Friday following her death at Pennington's Chapel conducted by the Rev. Kendall of the Moberly M. E. Circuit. The remains were interred in the cemetery near the church surrounded by a large assemblage of relatives and friends. Mrs. Reising was sixty years of age and the mother of six children viz.: Charles W. and Mrs. Thos. E. Elliott of this county, Prof. J. A. of Pleasantville, Ind., Rev. J. M. of Texas, and Prof. Adam H. and Anna C. who have gone before. She had several grand children. She was the daughter of Rev. J. J. Lehmanowsky, who was a member of Napoleons famous "Old Guard" until after the Battle of Waterloo, in 1815. Later he and Marshall Ney were captured and sentenced to be shot but he escaped and came to America and after several years went into the ministry and for a period of time lived in Corydon. She was a kindhearted, Christian woman and will be greatly missed by all who enjoyed her association in the community where she resided. Spouse: Nicholas REISING.
